FGE’s latest methane extracting gas project at Coastal Park Landfill in Muizenburg Cape Town is making the news – and for all the right reasons.
FGE, a division of Fountain Civil Engineering (Pty) Ltd, has established itself as a leading landfill gas contractor in Southern Africa, specialising in anaerobic digestion, biogas to electricity and biogas upgrading for the production of biomethane and carbon dioxide.
In this particular project, FGE was directly involved in the Design, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning of Coastal Park and as well as Bellville South, another landfill gas extraction and flaring project. The landfill gas extracted, can be also used for power generation or can be upgraded into biomethane. Coastal Park and Bellville South have the potential to produce 4 MWh of electricity or to fuel an average of 280 waste trucks.
“According to the Kyoto Protocol, this projects is the first step in getting carbon credits – and an income – for the city of Cape Town.” Timeslive.co.za https://select.timeslive.co.za/editions/2018-06-06-wednesday-june-6-2018/
